Since I moved to .NET 4.0 a few weeks ago, some of the tools had random crashes, usually at startup. It turned out this was an issue in the text editor control that is used in the tools. Mainly scenProc and FXEditor were affected, because the text editor is a main part of the GUI there, but ModelConverterX also uses it in some editors.
Yesterday I have fixed these issues, by disabling the buggy part of the control (it was a part we don’t use in the tool anyway). So please make sure to grab the latest development release.
ModelConverterX Crash at startup. I wasn’t happening before,
Do you get any error message? Sometimes the configuration gets corrupt and that can give issues at startup. You might want to try to delete the configuration files. Check the manual for their location.
I’m getting a total crash on startup. Just started happening last night. When I attempt to launch MCX, it opens a blank white-looking MCX for about a second, then just totally disappears. I tried uninstalling config files, and even deleted MCX, downloaded a new version, and attempted to run that. Same issue. One second of a white window, and then BOOM. Nothing. Beyond frustrating.
Any ideas besides the config files? That’s clearly not the problem here. For reference, no changes to the PC or its OS were made which could explain the issue. It’s like MCX just randomly decided no version of it will work for me anymore.
Are you using the latest stable release (1.7) or the development release (1.8)?
If MCX worked before and this just started to happen. Did you not change anything on your machine? Like the graphics driver or something like that?
Maybe you can check the Windows event viewer and see if it reports more information on the crash.
